Hello. I posted this in another subreddit but also seek potentially different advice here. Thank you!

Last week, I went on a first date with a girl I met on Tinder. She was interested in me clearly, and wanted to meet up (for me to go to her place) two nights before our originally scheduled date, which I rejected on the basis of not having met her in person, essentially a safety issue. The killer is that she told me that her friend would also be at her house, in an attempt to ease my concerns for safety since someone else would be there. With her undoubtedly wanting to bang, I figured she was just horny and asked whether her friend was a girl or a guy. She said he was a guy, and so I essentially said that I would be unavailable that night and could still make our originally scheduled date, but would oppose having sloppy seconds. This set her off and she was very apparently insulted and offended.

I didn't apologize for the statement, rather playing it off as a joke. Somehow, we still went on our date, throughout which she mentioned several times in an indirect passive-aggressive manner how she doesn't like being criticized for or accused of sleeping with other men or drinking excessively/doing drugs (the latter of which I had also expressed disagreement with). The four-hour date itself went very well, and she quickly adapted to my joking style, etc., and her and I kissed at the end. She agreed to meet up a couple days later (last Thursday), but when the time came and I asked her if we were still on, she said we should cut things off and see other people without telling me why.

My question is what was the point of her going on a date with me if she was terribly insulted by what I had said? I think that since she referenced my prior comments in an indirect way she may have been looking for an apology or understanding, and because I gave neither, instead opting to avoid or dismiss the issue each time (think six or so times), she later decided that she couldn't be with someone who would disagree with her lifestyle or question her innocence. Is this a correct understanding of the situation? My goals were to either become great friends (as learned during the date) or potentially a short-term summer fling.
