When this kind of shit happens, REACT! You don't need to be violent, but you do need to mean business. When he gets in your face, you tell him to shut the fuck up and get away from you. Then ignore that fucker like he doesn't exist in the world. Get pissed. But you gotta own it if you do. That's on you. Good luck.

Sounds like he’s not actually your boss? Just tell him to shut the fuck up. Seriously. You don’t have to take anything from him.

Or you could simply say “show me”. He’s critiquing how you stock shelves? Ask to see his technique. At least that way he’ll end up helping you unload your cart.

Speed from unloading pallets on truck day comes from knowing what goes where, how it stacks and how to offload it. Comes with time. I wouldn't bother listening to the guy and tell him you're trying to focus on your work so he fucks off. Be kind with him but don't feel like you need to listen to him or obey him at all - do what your direct manager says. Don't cause trouble just do your best every day and hopefully management will take notice. Don't worry about what this guy is saying because he's full of shit. As a former manager of a grocery store, everyone knows who is working and who is fucking around - likely if this guy is still a peon after 3 years he isn't going anywhere and is a dick. Just ignore him and learn the job from other people and try to avoid him.

Two options
1) Talk to him man to man after work. Be calm, look him in the eye, and tell him if he fucks with you again you'll kick his ass. If he objects then kick his ass.

2) Talk shit about him, say to other coworkers how poorly he works, always late, looks at his phone etc. All casually as if just mentioning. Eventually everyone will start to believe it, even the boss.
