In all seriousness though. Height probably doesn’t matter much in terms of legalities - certainly not more than age. This doesn’t change the fact that if you started it, assault charges will likely ensue.

If your friend is responsible for most of the damage, he should be held accountable too.

Unfortunately, yes (in court). However, law enforcement is just fact-finding. While of course cops are just people, and they have their own prejudices and judgments, for whatever reason this can go double in court. It's the reason why women get lighter prison sentences for the same crimes, and are given nearly a blank check in divorce proceedings; every accusation she makes is taken very seriously and can cause real harm to everyone around her.

You do have some things going for you: you have a witness, the victim in the investigation will be male, and if you get dragged to court, you don't have to say anything at all, but the victim will have to testify if there's even a prosecutor who wants to try the case - cross examinations of assault victims can get cases completely dismissed.

The real benefit you have is that you are under 18. This will 99% have nothing to do with your adult life, no matter the result. Only under very special circumstances could an employer pull records from juveniles, and even then if the report paints the whole picture, it may not impact you negatively, (assuming you were up front and did not lie about anything that they find in the report).

All that being said, it seems like you're more worried about your social situation. You'll just have to deal with what people think. I mean, repairing your reputation may start with repairing your relationship with the guy who got his grill wrecked, but if you don't have the social skills to make that happen, then you're going to have to live with what people think; only you can control how you react.

Anyway, good luck, sounds like it won't go away overnight, but it's not going to define your real future.

It happens a lot when you defend yourself at school. The victim of the abuse ends up fighting back and the victim is the one that gets into trouble. A lot of teachers at school are just garbage. Honestly, best way to get back at bullies is to let them abuse you then when they aren't looking like at the stairs, push them in a way that hides if he was pushed or just tripped on himself. You'll feel better with a smaller chance of getting caught.

This will probably blow over socially for the most part, stuff in highschool always seems to do tbh. Your friend really shouldn't have fucked the kid up that bad, and you are partially responsible for not pulling him off, but thats it
