Yep. Porn is not sex-positive nor is it good for relationships in any way. I think deep down a lot of people know this but many are defensive about their porn addictions as they want to have their cake and eat it too.

No amount of research is going to sway a porn addict to change unless they can swallow their pride and acknowledge that porn is not the sex-positive activity they’re brainwashed to believe it is. I broke up with my last ex because he wouldn’t give up porn for me. He basically ignored me when I told him about research on the negative effects of porn and was always extremely defensive about his porn use, claiming it was “normal” and “healthy” and that I was just “insecure” but that he on the other hand was “confident” and that’s why porn bothered me and not him. Gaslighting much?

It’s helpful to share porn research with those who genuinely want to change and walk away from an addiction, but for those who wish to stay living in a fantasy no amount of reality we present them with is going to change their minds.

Porn is completely unacceptable and we need to resist the attitude in society that porn is sex-positive - it is anything but and research continually shows this.
