Question about human nature is complex one and there is no single book to hand you the answers you seek. Best would be experience but since you ask for books here you go.

Vygotsky’s Sociohistorical Psychology and its Contemporary Applications (Cognition and Language: A Series in Psycholinguistics) this book will give you insight about influence of social component on foundations of personality.
1. Love & Will this book questions death as concept and way it influences our decisions.
2. The Righteous Mind: Why Good People Are Divided by Politics and Religion for morality.
3. When Violence Is the Answer: Learning How to Do What It Takes When Your Life Is at Stake Hardcover since you are a male and I assume not a pussy.

If you want specific theme in human nature ask for it.

I deal with the interloping field of neuroscience/philosophy/neurobiology/psychotherapy as a hobby so I can give you recommendations.
