Back in the 1990s I called the cops on a noted lesbian book store owner who had been engaged in a drunken brawl with her partner out in the street for hours, only to be told that there were no laws against same sex domestic abuse in that state. So they got away with behavior same sex couples would never have been allowed to engage in simply because there were no laws against it at the time.
