I've been working on aspects TRP preaches (e.g getting in shape, focusing on myself etc) and I've made some serious progress but there's one area I feel like I'm severely lacking in and I would massively appreciate some advice.

While I'm not incredibly socially awkward and have friends etc I'm also conscious of the fact that I'm not amazing at conversations. I struggle of thinking of things to talk about and if I'm speaking with someone who doesn't like sports (lmao) I'll eventually run out of shit to talk about. In groups I'm fine because there's less onus on you to be speaking constantly but when it's one-to-one if I'm talking to someone who's also similar to me then its just a bit flat.

It's gotten to the stage where I kind of dread being 1 on 1 with someone and having to talk for an extended period of time. Like I can do it but it just doesn't feel like the conversation is that good, interesting or funny, I'm kind of just talking for talkings sake.

I've tried putting myself in these situations more but I'm not really seeing a lot of progress to be honest and I feel like it holds me back compared to people who are able to do this kind of stuff without even thinking like some of my friends. I have this nagging doubt in the back of my head that I'm boring and nobody is ever going to want to be alone around me for extended periods because the conversations are just meh.

Has anyone been in a similar spot and managed to change? Because right now there's part of me of just thinking that maybe it's just the way I am and not something I can really change.
