Lol. Their perception of peer review is "kill whatever makes us unhappy and fuck the data." I read that paper. All it says is that male mentorship benefits a career in science when it happens early in the progression. It doesn't draw conclusions as to why, leaving open the possibility that it's simply because there are more men who n the upper echelons of science and thus can make connections for a mentee. Remember, a career in science is defined by publications and their prestige, not actual contribution to humanity.
