For nearly two decades of my life I was religious; I identified with the Presbyterian Church and went every Sunday.
Each time that pastor got up to that podium, he would scrutinize the living hell out of men. He would repeat bullshit such as, "you're the head of the household," and "you need to be accountable for your wife's behavior." This was all due to men being placed in a position of "authority", which is really just cultural enslavement with a prettier title. I never really felt that men NEEDED to be in charge or be one who was expected to feed the family.
Why me? Because I'm a guy? Just because "it's written in the Bible" that 'I should love my wife like Christ loved the church'? That's fucking ridiculous, just like that pastor and the podium he preaches from 52 Sundays out of the year. I have no obligation to anyone but myself, and just because some failed community leader, who can't address the heroin crisis in his own back yard but sure as shit has no issue endorsing/criticizing the president, has to say.
Fuck that.
