Break ups are never easy... but they have become much easier. I have learned so much about myself throughout these past few years that I now know to not take shit too personally. I love myself and I know that I am a damn good woman and really reaching this point in self-love and self-confidence has allowed me to end things with strength. Now, even when things don't always work out as planned, and the man I had hope in suddenly does a 180 on me, I don't dwell anymore. I just accept, embrace, and carry on. I can't and won't sit and question why he changed, why he gave up, why he stopped trying. I will never know why. What I do know though, is that regardless of the reason, the low-effort doesn't work for me. If I can go to work, go home and take care of my house duties, do hour long mandatory classes in my community I attend, commit hours to my small business, and still make time throughout the day to call him, drive to his house and spend time with him, text him reassuring messages, he best find the time to do the same. But he didn't. I cried, there was hurt, but I let it go. I thanked him for the lesson, and I let go.
I am so damn grateful that I finally have the power to find peace in the ending of things and no longer dwell on it or force a dull connection. I feel empowered and no longer a victim in love. I feel safe in loving people now because I know that although I can't ever have the power to predict a persons intentions and future motives, if they ever do turn against my favour I will be okay. It took a lot of time and heartbreak to get here, but I finally feel like I reached a point where my emotions and my heart is actually mine. They're not in the hands of a lover, but they're in my own. And so long as it remains this way, I will always be okay because I no longer believe that the end of us is the end of love. The end of us is only the end of our love... my love for me, however, will continue to exist and nobody can ever take that from me again.
