Younger women find it creepy when an older guy tries to approach them, but they fantasize about characteristics an older guy MIGHT have. These characteristics include, having their shit together, being more mature, having social/financial power, not doing childish shit, not being simps, not being desperate, can be relied physically, mentally, emotionally and can afford doing fun exciting things.

So if you're just simply sliding into their DM's, it disqualifies many of these characteristics and you just come off as a creepy older dude. Become a walking billboard of the success and fine age you've developed over the years. If you're just sliding in their DMs, you're simply an annoying pop-up.
