TL;DR Women like to tell stories.

Let's say you had an amazing date with a girl you like, and at the end of the night, you're driving back to her place - where you fully expect that things went well enough that she'll invite you up to her apartment for some fun. You say something witty in the car, and go for a kiss. But for the sake of this post, right as you're about to kiss her, you let out a huge fart. The kind of fart that made her stop right before the kiss, turn her head, NOT kiss you back, politely say bye, get out of the car, and walk off into her apartment.

Now you're sitting there thinking "What the hell? We had a great time, how could she have not seen past that? We spent the night making each other laugh, had a few drinks, danced a bit, and had a great time. What the fuck? It was just a fart. Everyone farts."

Here's what actually happened:

When she's telling this story to her friends the next day, you're not the guy who took her out for a fun evening. You're not the funny guy, or the great dancer, or the guy with the nice car. You're the guy who farted. That's all. And she can't tell her friends that she's going on a second date with the guy who farted as he was about to kiss her.

The fact of the matter is that sharing a laugh about that with her friends is more valuable to her than going out with you again. Women get off on the stories they get to tell to their friends, especially when it's anything at the expense of men. In her mind, you'll always be the guy who farted - it was just another weird date. It went great until one small thing turned her off for good and turned you from hero to zero. The girl in the group who gets the most attention at any given moment is the one who has a story to tell. In the same vein, this is also why women crave drama. It's exciting to them. It gives them something to do, or a story to tell.

So in this context, she'd rather have the story of that night end with "..and then he farted and I nope'd out hahahaha" rather than .."and then he farted; but I didn't mind because I liked him. I slept with the guy who farted during our first kiss." because it gets a better reaction from her friends. And as we [should] know, nothing means more to a woman than what her friends think.

The reason I had this thought is because I had something kind of similar happen back when I was 19. I was on a Greyhound bus coming back from another city with my mother, who was sitting in the seat in front of me (bus was packed). I ended up seated beside this beautiful Persian girl my age who also lived in my city. We talked for around 45 minutes - got to know each other a bit, and decided we were going to grab lunch after the bus ride since we were getting off at the same stop, and presumably we were going to have sex since she made a point to tell me all about her apartment that was just down the street from the bus station.

About 10 minutes before our stop, my mother is rummaging through her bag getting a snack. She turns around to face me and says "Hey IsUrWifeSingle, do you want a juice box?".

And it was over.

And my dick curled up inside my body. The girl next to me didn't say a word to me for the rest of the ride - just one word answers. She was finished with me just like that. We go to get off the bus and I stand up, grab my bag, and said to her "Still wanna get lunch?" and she just goes 'nope' and that was that. She was so turned off just like that because within 8 words my mother infantilized me to the point that this girl's vagina completely dried up.

..And I completely understand.
