Hey, looking for some good career advice here. From people that lived longer than me and can say a few wise words.

I'm Polish turning 24 soon. I live in Tricity (That's what we call it when you combine Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia). Also I have a flat on a loan thanks to my parents and I'm likely to have to inherit the house in my hometown but that's a long time to go I hope.

I just finished my first degree at technical university and got a job in somewhat similar in the field. What's important is that I'm earning some experience. Wage isn't too great though in western standards (about $750) but it's enough to pay off a flat and live here. My parents are helping me out still 🙄 but soon that's gonna end.

I've been thinking about 3 career paths so far and looking on some insight:

  1. Emigrate to other country and leave all behind, start from 0. Leave the flat, people I met, care free life, girl I'm meeting sometimes etc. Been thinking about Canada but total cost can be up to $5000. Or some EU country like Netherlands. Start a life and climb my way from the bottom if I don't get a good job. I should add that I speak fluent English close to a native level.

  2. Continue on my job, possibly get a raise, job hunt more, try in private sector. Continue on living in Poland thinking about the fact that at least in the future I'll have a place to stay at. For comparison minimum wage here gets you about 2 litres of gas. Most people modify their cars to drive on LPG. I have a friends to hang out with. Every weekend I do something fun and I live not far away from the sea which I love. I'm carefree most of the time.

  3. Join a some form of formation like Police, Border guard etc. Benefits are stable income, easier access to firearms and training, easier access to get firearms license, early retirement. Downfalls would be dangers associated with work, night shifts, 12h to 24h shifts, wage ceiling, not being sure of where I'll be sent off to also I've never been excessively patriotic. Another could be saying bye to free weekends etc. Wages are similar or better than what I have currently but there are some additions or 13th paycheck in a year etc.
