Indian govt wanted to make rape domestic violence a gender neutral term. Feminist organizations fought against this. They threatened govt that they will commit suicide if this is implemented. They lobbied opposition and ultimately it wasn't implemented.

As if this isn't horrifying enough. According to Indian laws a women can claimed to be raped if the consent for sex was given on the pretext of marriage. Any women in India can accuse her husband's family of domestic violence and without any proof the husband's family would be sent to jail. Just based on the accusation.

Even our supreme court has told our govt to change these laws but these feminist organizations are just too powerful.
