The irony is that although conscription was and still is a male issue, at that time that the Vietnam war was being waged conscription was far more universal of an issue than abortion. It could not have been waged if it was not for conscription, and it was not only American males that were dying but also Vietnamese civilians including women and children. Conscription was also far more oppressive, lethal, and urgent of a cause than abortion.
Feminists like Firestone thought the anti draft movement was distracting from female issues. She projects her own sectarian mentality onto people who are not sectarian like her. Feminism only attached itself to the left for its own purposes.
