If you had the opportunity to “marry up” would you do it?

I take it that if a situation like this occurs, you would generally be clear of most of the traps that accompany marriage for a man. In fact, theoretically you should be able to bend those same traps to your own advantage in the face of a divorce.

For downsides of a situation like this, I could easily see this leading to the woman using her financial status against you. But what if you decided to keep finances separate as best as you can.
