I am 24 years old. 2 of my friends are also 24 and one is 29.
The one who is 29 became engaged before we became friends. We became close friends and he asked me to be in his wedding. That wedding is in 2 months. I am slowly starting to see his fiance become more and more of a "bridzilla" and it seems as if he has grown more distant and stressed. I will say, this buddy of mine seems to be the least "blue pilled" of all three. He's a real cool guy, but I am worried the feelings of entrapment that comes along with marriage will take a toll on him.
My other 2 friends have been lifelong friends of mine. I'm talking since we were 5. One became engaged roughly 4 months ago and the other became engaged last Friday. Both with girls they have been dating since we were 18/19. Both have asked me to be in their weddings which will take place next spring.
I am excited for their weddings because it will be an awesome time to get together with lots of friends and have a good time, but I am struggling with sharing their enthusiasm for the actual act of marriage. My buddy who got engaged this past Friday called me on Saturday to catch up and I struggled to get out a "congratulations." His fiance is batshit crazy. I know that their marriage will end poorly. He is making 6 figures in a LCOL area. She dropped out of college to become a SAHM to their two dogs and convinced him to buy themselves a house. It's a recipe for disaster.
I don't feel the need to take any action or share with them my views on marriage and cohabitation. I just wanted to vent and hear from you guys if any of you have been in similar positions before.
I also want to note, that seeing them get married gives me absolutely zero feelings of "FOMO" and in-fact strengthens my drive to be single and further focus on my career and building wealth.
