Okay so please read all of this before bashing me. I was quite hesitant to post here as I understand this is a women free zone and while my own personal values are different from this, let's respect each other. Yes, I'm a woman who wants to talk about MGTOW.

I'm not here to talk about myself but my boyfriend. We've been dating long term and were friends before we met. Now at his core he's someone who's put in a lot of effort to build up his self confidence and generally improve his life. He's smart, hardworking, driven and most importantly incredibly laser focused when it comes to his goals.

The issue is that I feel like I'm holding him back. He loves me a lot and cares about me but he's mentioned how if he wasn't with me he'd probably be someone who is 'alone and smashing goals'. But then he insists that I've 'changed' his views and he's more of a family man now. He's pretty open minded and honestly I don't want to speak for him when it comes to adopting this 'philosophy', but I can't help but think what a perfect fit he'd be in this whole MGTOW thing since he seems to do better when focusing only on himself. I'm so confused as to whether I should call it quits for his sake (and suffer unbearably since living without him seems hellish) because I know he never will. Keep in mind we are young and not financially dependant on each other so bear with me if this sounds immature. I just don't want to be something that holds him back because relationships inevitably do. I can already see him making decisions painstakingly having to keep us BOTH in mind and it makes me feel like crap knowing he has to do that (even if its willingly). I'm assuming it'll get worse as we grow older.

TL; DR: My boyfriend seems like someone who would do better going his own way because of how driven he is, but I don't want to let go based on my own gut feel.
