Before I being I want to explain 2 things.

Firstly this post isn't here to stroke an ego or to present to you any snowflake wisdom. It's about giving you a mindset that should help you succeed in life. It will not be about arrogance or elitism.

Secondly, this mindset might help you finally breakthrough the popularity contest barrier, where on the other side there's exceptional territory to conquer.

Without further ado let's get started. Imagine if you're alone floating around in an ocean. You have no control of yourself as the waves rise and fall. You're at the mercy of the stormy sea and you're just in it for the ride. The wave rises and you rise with it. Out of sheer exhaustion, you all but pass out.

The next morning you gradually come about. The sun peering down on you, and the storm has passed. Now it's dead silent and peaceful. The night terror has passed, but is all well?

This describes the emotional journey you will live out if you care what people think and want them to like you. When you're popular you'll be happy, even ecstatic. When you're disliked you'll feel a total crushing blow. You hand over your self-worth into the hands of the observer and give them full control.

If your lifes focus is this, you will struggle to achieve greatness. This mindset is an anchor and a weight, but there's another way.

Start by acknowledging that virtually everyone you're surrounded by are nothing more than plebs. These plebs do not deserve to have any power over you.

2 commodities are the only thing that's important. Time and energy. Stop wasting your time on plebs, the energy and investment isn't worth it. 99.9% of them over a lifetime will mean virtually nothing when you're on your deathbed.

Now, these plebs are actually fucking morons. Impeders almost designed to waste or suck up both of your commodities, time and energy. These might be that sexy girl who's playing some game at work or that colleague who you never quite get around to having a beer with. Forget these people. Useless moronic plebs, who wouldn't understand the finesse of your emotional needs. These are blunt instruments who only pretend to give a shit, but in reality, you're only a prop in their story.

When at work be diligent. I mean it, you're spending a fuck load of your life at work, so make it count. You're not there to make friends, be polite and civil and "well-liked" but make no mistake these people would throw you under a bus if given a reason. But when it comes to your actual work, and quality of your work. Don't let it be said it's inferior. Your work is your lifeblood. That money is needed, take it seriously.

What distinguishes you from a pleb? You're the one in control over the 2 most valuable assets in your command. Forget money. I'm talking about time and energy. Time and energy can be used to concoct a vast array of dreams and experiences.

Here's where responsibility comes in. If you're going to sit around and watch Netflix all day, then wake up and barely make it off to work wondering why you have such a shitty life. You're honestly just as mindless as a pleb. Don't feel bad nor guilty. Every single one of us has been in this mode, and some of the greatest minds on this planet have experienced such lulls.

Then you get to work and it's that popularity contest again, and oh fuck!

No! Take your power back. Focus on time and energy, and don't be too generous with your own.

For the past 3 months, I've been studying classical guitar. And after 3 months, after having also been playing other styles of guitar for years, I can see some real breakthrough in my playing. That point where you realize fuck me, the only difference between me and a really good player is they started younger and threw themselves in it.

But for the love of God, there's no time for regrets. I can catch up, maybe not completely, but certainly to the point where with more determination and practice and effort. Remember time and energy? Yeah, these 2 applied correctly to achieve something completely fucking epic or die trying.

Find that thing that suits you, and watch the world fade into the background.

I've set a few goals if I feel I have not met all these goals by December (and right now I'm mostly on track). I'll pack up my computer and put it in a box for a year. Yeah, no more gaming then.

Seen fight club? When the drama at work is like background noise. So it is when you have actual real and tangible demanding goals and your end game is almost out of your reach. You don't have time to get caught up in the bullshit.

Be like this.
