yes. rise of social media especially insta/snapchat culture has enforced fake beauty standards involving but not limited to clothing.

Makeup, plastic surgeries all are outcomes of stupidity and social beauty competition. The worst is not here yet.

Anything goes is better. Sex sells. Sex sells sex. I like this trend. It's beneficial to the males, the female automatically puts herself in a lower status situation by having to actually compete with the others for his short lived attention. A smart man can profit from that and live a sex full life for free. Also kinda pushes the "lesser fems" out of sight because shame because they can't compete. It's a win for him.

Well there's no need to sound like baby-boomers hating on millennials - the downfall of professional, formal dressing started WAY before the 2000s. Clothes were pretty consistently form-fitting and flattering until about the 70s when hippie tunics and ripped sleeves and loose fitting garments blew up. Then in the 80s you had the crazy shoulder pads and pouffy sleeves and insanely oversized blazers and wide pants. And then the late 80s and 90s were all about grungy denim and horrendous hair and ripped jeans. This was when baggy untucked dad-shirts and mom-jeans peaked.

For men I actually think there's been a recent resurgence of smart dressing. More regular guys than ever before now understand the importance of a well-fitting tailored suit and how a simple tucked in button-down can make you look like you have your shit together.

For women though, it's just all over the place and feminism is largely to blame. Every time a woman wears something genuinely smart, form fitting and sophisticated, all the land-whale feminazis slut-shame them or call them anorexic or say crap like "real women have curves". And then they bitch about "toxic media culture" that puts so much pressure on how women ought to look, and they somehow blame men for it, even though they're the ones doing all the judging and bullying. And then some hideous SJW with purple hair will throw on something like a fluorescent circus tent, and everyone will praise it and call her "edgy" and "courageous" and "beautiful" just cause she looks like she ate her whole family clearly nothing else would fit her.

Early 2000s? Goodness. Watch any movie/news clip from the 50's! Everyone dressed up while IN PUBLIC. Social conditioning is a factor. People are have less respect for themselves, would rather spend money on other material items and there is no stigma attached to dressing like a homeless person anymore. Visit an airport - people are in their pajamas and think is it 'cool'. At the grocery store, I see women wearing yoga pants and men wearing sweats. Who cares anymore right? It's only clothes and it's non of your business what I wear. Well, I care what I wear. I enjoy looking sharp. Not overdone, but I always fly with a white shirt and a tie. I live on a farm and dress like a junkie. But when I go to the city or travel, I shine up. Although people notice, I ignore them anyways, so again, who cares. I do.
