How many of you all here rent a house/apartment or own a house/apartment in the US? Seems like the way to go for my generation is to be 100% mobile and to be ready to pack up bags even if it means paying a premium for an apartment or shared room.

I see many people I personally know who are either not gainfully employed but have had offers in other states but have had to turn them down because they couldn't sell their houses in CA-what person in this economy can afford an $800,000 house (unless you own it)?

What is your preferred choice of housing? I'm in an odd situation where I have a single family house in a will which I will retire to but I would be renting until my retirement date. So, technically I "own" a house but at the same time I'm also a renter. Although, I pay less in rent in my middle America state than the property taxes are on the house that's in said liberal shit hole.

I pay $500 for a single room of a two bedroom apartment in a nice/clean state where there's no traffic, and property taxes+HOA are a shitty hell hole. $600/mo + $250 in HOA dues/month not including Utilities. And, this is standard in Southern California. Land of HOA's from hell.
