I'm in a similar position. Listening to Joe Rogan made me understand that things are very complex, we are billions, we have created very complex structures, and if we want to make things better we have to talk a lot, and carefully, about a lot of different issues in a constructive way, and advance the conversation. No ideology is going to magically solve everything (and I'm a strong leftists), but it seems no one gives a fuck about anything, they just want to be right. Democracy is just a show in which very shallow things are discussed, to give an illusion of having some control. This big institutions are the ones who run the whole thing, but not necessarily because they are evil, but because we can not commit to study matters with seriousness and responsibility. Watching you favourite late night show monologue or 15 minutes of a news outlet doesn't qualify anyone for anything.
I enjoy listening to Joe Rogan when I BBQ perfect intellectual listening, and it's like 20-30mins long so like perfect timing lol
It became tiring to me over 10 years ago, to have to educate the person I was having a debate with about the facts of the issue, in order for them to understand what the issue was. It sounds really condescending, but that’s what happens if you try to have a discussion with somebody who is arguing on emotion.
It’s simply too much bother these days.
I mean, what effect is changing their mind gonna have, even if it works?
Some things really just aren't worth the effort, and I think that is what becoming MGTOW is largely about. Getting rid of all the shit that is holding us back.
The problem I had, and have, is that these people vote.
A fucking men. My problem in one sentence.
I started losing friends from getting involved. There’s still some identity shit that riles me up, but basically all I could see politics actually being is a big fucking meme
Politics is a product designed to generate revenue, no different than the shit sitting on the shelves at a grocery store. Each side parrots to their base, generating votes/ratings, which make the talking heads rich. Anyone that thinks that their beliefs/votes mean Jack Shit are living in La-La land
"After all, the best place to start to make the world a better place is yourself."
You're reflecting Jordan Peterson's "12 rules for life"; 'Clean up your room'.
For me, over the past 5 years or so, I've found solist in what is now referred to as the Intellectual Dark Web.
I like long format discussions/debates and have really enjoyed the content most of those in the IDW have produced.

I never really started. Certain things happened to me early in life that gave me a cynical streak a mile and a half wide.
When I was a teenager I observed the left gain power. Then break their grandiose election promises, fuck up the economy trying to help poor, lazy and useless people. And after a couple of terms get kicked out.
Then the right gets in, breaks their grandiose election promises, tries to correct the ailing economy by persecuting poor, lazy and useless people and rolling out the red carpet for large corporations. After one or two terms they get kicked out and the cycle repeats.
Over and over. It repeats.
The economy never gets 'better' or fully recovers enough to put a dent in the national deficit. I see more and more homeless people that aren't drug addicts or lunatics, just, well poor.
The really sad thing about this is I was writing in very general terms about the three seperate western countries I have lived in. Same shit, different paterns of colo(u)r on the flag lol
Honestly if you held a gun to my head and forced me to study politics for a year, or smear fresh dog shit all over my face and in my nose an mouth until I gagged, I would follow fido around the park with a... well with a shit eating grin :D
Ifucking hate politics.
Hey, Dennymambo, just a quick heads-up: seperate is actually spelled separate. You can remember it by -par- in the middle. Have a nice day!

Yes, yes it is. Also, I missed a space after 'I' on the final line, and I'm sure I edited a previous comment because of a grammatical or spelling incident. But all in all I'm doing pretty good for a drunk sausage fingered individual on a smartphone. You have a better day, spelling robot!
