Anger, sadness, depression, all these emotions are considered negative, and they are to an extent. From my point of view, there is no way outside of divine intervention to completely rid ourselves of negativity in our lives. If we never have sadness or anger, how would we know when we are calm or happy?
That is why I like to do something that mitigates or at the very least puts these negative emotions to work so as they become beneficial. Anger, for example, is an extremely powerful emotion. It gives you loads of energy, but if held on for too long is very destructive. What do you do? Work out. Easy. Need motivation? r/MGTOW or r/incels, that'll get your blood flowing. All the primal rage is released and you no longer have that painful headache constantly nagging you in your brain, and now your body has become healthier.
For another example, lets take sadness. I have found that when I feel depressed, or when I see someone who is sad, they are much more logical. They are sensitive to the change around them and as a result can observe what is hurting them and what is making them sad in the first place. When I am sad, I write down my problems on a piece of paper or a notepad. Not exactly a new idea for therapy, but I don't use it to calm myself down. With my sadness written down on a piece of paper, I will never forget the pain that I experienced. As a result, I tend not to relapse because of the pain I wrote down.
Because of this, when I am happy I no longer blindly run into danger, I am swiftly reminded of what will happen and I turn the other cheek.
I thought this could be of some use to the people on this sub, since I often see the misconstrued idea of "don't be angry ever don't be sad ever" when in reality that is impossible. We are humans, we will also have useless or negative emotions. It is and always will be ingrained into our brains, so you might as well use them for something.
