In November of 2018 my wife of 19 years came home with a truck she wanted. She had terrible credit due to using emergency rooms as free doctors all her life. She needed me to co-sign. Unbeknownst to me at the time, it was the same week she had begun having an affair. We paid a $5000 down payment and got a terrible interest rate on the idea that we would work on credit and refinance in a year or so.

In April 2019, she informed me she had been cheating with multiple people. I tried to stay and see if I could ever get over what she had done. I tried my best. We made plans to move to Florida and rented a home there. After a few months of preparations we felt I was still to hurt and wasn't ready to move out of state with her yet. She decided she would move to FL alone and get established there, living off a few thousand dollars she had in the bank. She maintained she would "She would go there and prove she could be the wife I deserved again". She left for FL in February of this year. When she arrived her close friend co-signed on another vehicle for her. I kept the truck because she decided she no longer wanted it and would not be able to afford the high payment and terrible gas mileage.

Her family has a history of mental illness. A few weeks after she arrived in Florida her behavior became erratic and paranoid. She thought there was a human trafficking ring being run out of her attic(?!) She thought there were cameras in her lightbulbs, her devices were being tracked, pedophiles were walking past her house, and hundreds of people following her. She wouldn't go home and would drive endlessly for days staying at hotels and eating through her money. On March 24th she called to inform me she had met a man in a hotel lobby that was going to "protect her". He had been released from prison 7 months prior, serving 16 years on a 30 year sentence. She claims they married on March 27th.

A few weeks ago, she was arrested for possession of methamphetamines. She had never done drugs while we were together so this was quite a shock. She had been a pastor for many years so her new behavior was very out-of-character. She's cut off contact. Ive only heard from her twice demanding money from me or accusing me of taking her stimulus check (I havent, we still have not recieved it to my knowledge).

She orignally wanted her name off of the truck loan. To my knowledge, I would have to refinance it in my name only (if thats even correct, not sure how it works). Now she's threatening me with taking the truck that she cant pay for or she wants money from it. The truck is probably worth about what is left on the loan, around 23k. She really only made the first payment or so, the rest I have paid myself and have been the only driver since March-April of 2019. The truck is our only real asset split between us. We have no children, I gave her as much of our furniture as she needed and wanted, I still live in the same rental house we had in TX, and have removed her name from the few bills we shared together. I kept our joint bank account open so that I could deposit our stimulus when if/when it arrived and she could pull out the money in FL. I opened a separate account for myself.

I'm sure she cannot afford to file for divorce and I have yet to do so. I don't even know how to tbh, divorce was never something I intended to do but I have no other option at this point. I really don't think I can afford to divorce her right now, well financially at least. What can I do to protect myself and what are my options on the truck? Refinancing the truck in my name my be difficult because she appears to be tanking our credit. It's dropped by 100 points in the last month or so and I'm sure she had my name on something there.

I'm very lost on how to handle this and any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I honestly don't know anything about how divorce works and definitely didn't ever think ours would get ugly but here we are. I would like to keep the truck to avoid having to put down a large down payment on another one but will do so if thats my best option.
