I actually wrote a research paper for my psychology class on this. Long story shot? Single mothers are more likely to neglect their daughters,and train their sons to act as an emotional replacement for the father and places many of their hang ups on the child. At work so I cant grab my paper. Alternatively I do have a personal source outside of my paper.

When I was at Google, an email was sent out announcing some kind of stop child abuse gathering. No problem with that, but it was scheduled for Father's Day. I responded back (yes, reply-all) suggesting that Mother's Day was a better choice since child abuse is more often perpetrated by the mother, not the father. I included the government statistics on child abuse to back up my statement.

The shit-storm was epic and the lame excuses were unending.

Some time after that incident I was approached by a co-worker who said he appreciated me speaking out, because they were afraid to do it since the culture in Google was so narrow minded and unforgiving. This was before the term "woke" started gaining traction.
