i was not taught once about feminism in k-12 and i graduated recently.

i just took an environmental justice course in college last semester and it covered the civil rights movement better than any of my history classes in high school.

as a feminist, any feminist that hates men is a piece of shit. the majority of feminists are striving for equality and acknowledge that men commit suicide at higher rates, are more often homeless than women, etc. a lot of the issues men face is because we view women a certain way (like who holds custody of a child. women are seen as nurturing and motherly in society and so even when the father would be a better caretaker, the judge gives custody to the mother because they are seen as babymakers/mothers) just because we see the crazy radical few have tantrums does not mean all feminists are that way.

men are not going to fall behind women anytime soon. focus on the people who have power giving us fucking nothing during the pandemic while thousands have lost their job, ran out of money, lost their home, have gone hungry. those people at the top are responsible for all these issues. not people taking a sociology course.

Exactly. You, like many other feminists, only acknowledge. Saying that you care is not the same as "striving for equality". In my world, actions speak for character, not words. Name one feminist organization that has actively pushed for any legislature to support any of these issues for men. I'm listening. Then maybe it'd be appropriate to say that "[you're] striving for equality".

Except for men's issues, the so-called "people in power... responsible" are feminists. I feel you're misguided so here's an excerpt. Maybe you'll understand why there's acrimony towards feminists such as yourself.

You're not Jan Reimer, former mayor of Edmonton and long-time head of Alberta's Network of Women's Shelters, who just a few years ago refused to appear on a TV program discussing male victims of domestic violence, because for her to even show up and discuss it would lend legitimacy to the idea that they exist.

You're not Mary P Koss, who describes male victims of female rapists in her academic papers as being not rape victims because they were "ambivalent about their sexual desires" (if you don't know what that means, it's that they actually wanted it), and then went on to define them out of the definition of rape in the CDC's research because it's inappropriate to consider what happened to them rape.

You're not the National Organization for Women, and its associated legal foundations, who lobbied to replace the gender neutral federal Family Violence Prevention and Services Act of 1984 with the obscenely gendered Violence Against Women Act of 1994. The passing of that law cut male victims out of support services and legal assistance in more than 60 passages, just because they were male.

You're not the Florida chapter of the NOW, who successfully lobbied to have Governor Rick Scott veto not one, but two alimony reform bills in the last ten years, bills that had passed both houses with overwhelming bipartisan support, and were supported by more than 70% of the electorate.

You're not the feminist group in Maryland who convinced every female member of the House on both sides of the aisle to walk off the floor when a shared parenting bill came up for a vote, meaning the quorum could not be met and the bill died then and there.

You're not the feminists in Canada agitating to remove sexual assault from the normal criminal courts, into quasi-criminal courts of equity where the burden of proof would be lowered, the defendant could be compelled to testify, discovery would go both ways, and defendants would not be entitled to a public defender.

You're not Professor Elizabeth Sheehy, who wrote a book advocating that women not only have the right to murder their husbands without fear of prosecution if they make a claim of abuse, but that they have the moral responsibility to murder their husbands.

You're not the feminist legal scholars and advocates who successfully changed rape laws such that a woman's history of making multiple false allegations of rape can be excluded from evidence at trial because it's "part of her sexual history."

You're not the feminists who splattered the media with the false claim that putting your penis in a passed-out woman's mouth is "not a crime" in Oklahoma, because the prosecutor was incompetent and charged the defendant under an inappropriate statute (forcible sodomy) and the higher court refused to expand the definition of that statute beyond its intended scope when there was already a perfectly good one (sexual battery) already there. You're not the idiot feminists lying to the public and potentially putting women in Oklahoma at risk by telling potential offenders there's a "legal" way to rape them.

And you're none of the hundreds or thousands of feminist scholars, writers, thinkers, researchers, teachers and philosophers who constructed and propagate the body of bunkum theories upon which all of these atrocities are based.

You're the true feminist. Some random person on the internet.

Except they already have and are going to continue with the current powers as they be. Women are continuing to be more highly educated and more employed than men. Oft, purported is the wage gap and hiring bias against women in STEM. Explain why unmarried women in their 20s make 8 cents more on the dollar than men. Explain why women are twice as likely to land an academic role in stem with the same qualifications. Explain to me why men experience more violent crime. Why men achieve lower grades for the exact same papers. Why men constitute a minority in academia yet have significantly fewer gender-specific scholarships. Why men make up more of the homeless population. The prison population. I can keep going. Tell me exactly how women need more help than men.

The nerve of you to say you acknowledge issues men face and to follow that up with "men are not going to fall behind women anytime soon."

i don’t agree with any of those groups or people and what they did. a lot of people use the cover of something good to carry out something that’s just for the benefit of themselves. and you know that because that’s the message you’re conveying to me.

a lot of environmental groups and activists are only advocating for the environment for their own benefit. when it comes to landfills/toxic waste sites being placed next to bipoc communities they turn a blind eye for example. companies greenwash all the time to convince you to choose their product over others. i’m not going to stop calling myself an environmentalist just because someone else is misusing the movement for their own gain.

notice how almost all the people you listed at have a lot of power and money. people are fucking selfish.

You didn't answer my request. I named a couple of feminist groups that actively have opposed men's rights. Name one feminist group that has done anything for men's rights.

Here's a parallel that might help you: if I'm a member of a white nationalist organization whose core tenet involves how immigrants are stealing jobs away from white people, yet I am only looking to improve white representation and acknowledge that immigrants have their own problems, would you find fault with my support of the white nationalist organization? What if I re-frame the organizational tenets to say we're fighting for equality amongst races, while the organization simultaneously pushes for legislature that actively harms immigrants in the same areas that I say I acknowledge? Am I a racist? Or am I one of the many "good ones" who happens to be supporting a racist organization.

i am not aware of any. i’m not part of any group. just cause they don’t advocate for men’s rights doesn’t mean they want to see men suffer.

feminist groups are for advancing women’s rights.

that’s like asking blm to also advocate for and make white people who are underprivileged part of their fight. blm is for the advancement of black people. that is their focus so it is what they advocate for.

there are groups who fight for men’s rights. do they also fight for women’s rights? no. i have never seen a post in this sub about advancing women’s rights. because that is not the purpose of the group.

just because a group is for the advancement of rights for one group of people doesn’t mean they want to take away rights from another group of people.

and why the fuck did you choose a white nationalist as your example. if you’re looking for white representation in the first place, you’re definitely racist. there’s plenty of white representation everywhere. people who think shit like that just want less representation from bipoc communities. white people arent fucking oppressed so they don’t need to fight to be equal. your argument back to me really had to be defending white nationalists?

Then don't lie and claim to be "striving for equality". Claim what you're doing. You're striving for advantages exclusively for women. Advantages to women in areas where they're actively competing against men inherently results in disadvantages to men.

The difference is men's rights groups don't lie and say they're for advancing women's rights. In fact, many are openly anti-feminist. I'm telling you I'm an anti-feminist. I'm not advocating for women's rights. And that's what doing, I'm not advocating for women's rights, I'm advocating for men's rights. You're saying you advocate for men's rights when you're not advocating for men's rights and support actively harming men's rights instead. That's the fundamental difference: it's called honesty.

Men's Rights activists are concerned not with the "advancement of rights" but rather the "advancement of special privileges" to a group that they have to directly compete with in courts, in jobs, in school, etc.

So tell me. When affirmative action policies for women are added and representation of women is forcibly achieved, do you think more spots are created overall? Where do you think these men go? It couldn't explain the steady decrease in male employment and under-education of men, could it? No way. Remember the Paris gender parity fine that just happened? After the law resulted in the replacing of men with women in senior government positions to the point of over-representation of women, the feminist women that were now in power repealed the law so they could intentionally under-represent men. This is your movement. Just ask yourself, why are women more highly educated now? Why are they more likely to be employed? Why do they receive higher grades for the exact same papers? Why are women with equal qualifications twice as likely to be hired into a STEM position in academia? Why do single, unmarried women in their 20s make 8 cents more on the dollar than men? You know exactly why. It's because you and your in-group biased ideology are pushing for special privileges for women at the detriment of men.

To continue. When movements like the #metoo reinforce guilty until proven innocent, what do you think happened to all the men that had their lives ruined by false accusations?

Your movement, and it's terrible ideological platform is entirely responsible for the large-scale detriment to men. I've named a number of feminist, political legislature that have led to discrimination of men. I urge you to name one thing that Men's Rights has done that has led to the discrimination against women.

And it's not only at the detriment of men. It also harms women. Why do you think women are more likely to describe dating as difficult? More likely to be single? More likely to be unhappy? Why do you think many have dreams of not working? Why do you think that the wage has stagnated to the point where women have to work now? It couldn't be because of basic economic reasons, like doubling the available labor and increasing competition and driving down wages for men?

The point is simple: white nationalists groups are racist organization who try and push racist policies. Any member of that group, regardless of intent, is a racist because they are espousing racist teachings and pushing racist policies. Your feminism is a sexist institution that pushes sexist policy. As a member of that institution, regardless of intent, you are sexist because you are supporting openly sexist and discriminatory policies. Did you really need me to spell it out?

every woman i have asked about sexual abuse/assault has a story including myself. women who misuse the #metoo movement to advance their own positions are fucking scum and provide assholes like you a made up point. it’s so incredibly rare a woman lies about rape or sexual abuse and people like you claiming false accusations are common make other women afraid to come forward because they think they won’t be taken seriously. First off, I never said that. Don't misrepresent my words. Second off, don't intentionally attempt to derail the conversation. You seem to have ignored all the statistics I brought up regarding over-representation of women and discrimination against men by focusing on your feelings. I'm sure it's an easier argument to label me as a pig for "insulting you" and bringing up the "disgusting" facts regarding sexual assault, than come to the realization that you have benefited tremendously by being a woman. Have I benefited as a man? Absolutely. But all the studies point towards a bias in favor of women from both men and women. Whether you like to admit it, you, I assume a college-educated, white woman, are extremely privileged.

Anecdotes and personal accounts don't belong in policy, especially with something as grey as the definition of sexual assault and the potential of ruining lives.

If you want to bring up sources actually link literature, don't use feminist-leaning resources. It's disingenuous. Here's an actual unbiased report from the MAD project. Can't be more unbiased than straight data. The 8% often cited is based on the proportion of false rape claims where the police know for sure the victim outright lied about the event. If you include completely unfounded claims and the claims that were not crimes, you find that rape almost certainly did not occur in 33.5% of cases. That alone is not "incredibly rare", and, if you include the grey area where we don't know for sure what happened, that number could be as high as 90%. Don't make conclusions without actually looking at the numbers.

Yeah, and I never reported my sexual assaults either, so it's disgusting for you to attack me as some evil, unfeeling entity. However, I'm still aware that my personal feelings on the matter should not impact policy and potentially ruin people's lives. Maybe if you actually knew my life experiences rather than characterizing me as an "asshole" and a "woman-hating incel", you'd understand why I'm here fighting for male rights.

i’m sorry for calling your claim disgusting. not you. it was low of me. and you got me, i am white and college educated (btw i haven’t taken any courses that have to do with feminism or even brought it up). sorry i’m not citing much of anything either. i don’t argue with people online ever so i don’t have a my own lil database saved haha.

in the evidence you site between 94 and almost 97% of the victims are female still. (not trying to say the other percentage that was male doesn’t matter but obviously this is something happening much more often to women). 8% is a lot of false accusations! you’re right about that for sure. I don’t know how many ‘men’s lives get ruined’ because of false rape accusations when they’re actually proved fake though. that just makes the asshole doing the fake accusation look bad. (it’s like mail in voting fraud. if it’s caught, it’s not counted with the legitimate ballots. if the accusation is fake and ruled that way, the man can tell others that it was disproved in court. or maybe it was dismissed, and not even proven false, this is still something the man in the situation could show as he wasn’t proven of anything)

“if you include the grey area where we don’t know for sure what happened, that number could be as high as 90%” people process trauma differently and lots have trouble recalling those traumatic events. even if they can recall and don’t have solid evidence it happened, what did you want them to do in the situation? record what’s going on? accusations can also be deemed false if... delayed reporting, insufficient evidence to prosecute, a victim's decision to not cooperate with investigators, inconsistencies in a victim's statements which can tie back to the victim processing trauma and not being able to remember or convey the event accurately. (not all police stations follow those guidelines but some do)

it is historically seen that companies want the most labor out of their employees for the least pay so that they can maximize their profits. the wealth of the top 10% (or 1%) has been increasing since the 60s. you can look up “america’s wealth gap” or something along the lines of that. we are getting poorer while the top is getting wealthier. we need a greater deal of wealth distribution. women started to enter the workforce during ww2 because many of the men were fighting in the war. after the war participation in unions decreased, giving less negotiation power to the worker and so as union membership dropped, the company bosses (that top 10%) did not give raises or bonuses or whatever as often. union membership decreased after the war because the service industry boomed and there was not a high unionization rate within that industry. but those were the jobs available.
