Matt Dillahunty on the disparity of reproductive rights. Agree or disagree?

What Matt's position lacks is the acknowledgement that despite it not being "consequence free sex" (if I were more cynical, I'd say he phrased it that way on purpose); abortion is an abdication of the responsibility he's so insistent fathers take. Every argument he has against financial abortion works equally well on physical abortion. "What if they don't want to carry the child to term?" "Well then, don't do the act." He also seems to skirt around the fact that "responsibility" for men involves roughly 18 years of forced economic servitude. That's a fifth of a very charitable lifespan, during which a man might have to work damaging or even deadly jobs to make enough money to support both himself and the child, much less the mother, which the state often forces him to do.

He also arrives at this position by stating one of his major intentions is to reduce unwanted children. Isn't a child taken care of by the state, either by stealing money from the taxvictim at large or from the specific father, by definition unwanted? Further, if you don't want to be responsible for someone else's reproductive choice, maybe we should go about dismantling the welfare state. Certainly, mothers will be less likely to have unwanted children if they know Big Daddy Government won't be there to make up for their poor decision making.

Seems kind of like post hoc rationalizations for a preconceived position. I want to be more charitable, given that I've liked a lot of Matt's work in the past. But seeing his intellectual rigor in those arguments compared to here, I have to think it's some kind of cognitive bias he's not interested in challenging.
