This is why I don't open doors for women, they can do it themselves. I once did an experiment at work. I opened doors for both sexes and nearly 100% of the men said thanks, but only about half the women did. It doesn't have to be a statement on gender equality...it's common manners to say thank you. Some women seemed to have lost the ability to be polite amongst all this BS, and it was as almost always women under 40 that were rude.

Ok, let me get one thing straight, holding open a door is an act of kindness, kindness isn't NECESSARILY to be acknowledged, but upholding your duties as an officer of the law (assuming where this is taking place, rape is illegal) is necessary, in my opinion, the cop's reaction was really out of left field, I'm not saying it's bad or wrong he said it, it's just weird to say it, it's like if a firefighter held open the door, you didn't respond, and then said to you, well, don't call us if your house is burning down.
