I’m getting married next year and have a good chunk of money saved including a paid off home, some property, and a business I own 50%. I need to get a prenup but don’t exactly know where to start.
1) should this be drafted by a family lawyer or what kind of law firm would handle this usually?
2) I live in Puerto Rico but will be married in Miami. I also own a home in another state where we will probably move back to in a few years. Do I need a prenup in the state that I’m married in or the one with the house too? I prob need one in Puerto Rico as well since I’m doing a specific tax act and a prenup would guarantee I don’t have to pay the fees twice since all my current assets would be owned specifically by me and not jointly.
3) what sort of things would I want to consider before contacting an attorney? I know we both need presentation for it to hold up in could but I’m not sure how to structure anything. I’m hoping a lawyer can give me some basic guidelines when drafting up the document but it would be nice to have some pointers to consider.
Feel free to PM if you want. Def looking for advice in Florida and PR if you have experience in either of those two states/territories.
