Child support is Alimony in disguise. Has always been.

If it really were about the interests of the child, they would have given the child to the parent who is most able to provide for the child (usually the man) and statistics would bear that out.

If it really were about the interests of the child, they would have some accounting of the money spent to indicate that it went to the child, rather than allow the mother to spend it as she likes on boob jobs, tattoos, lip-fillers, handbags, clothes and shoes for herself.

If it really were about the interests of the child, the amount would be a fixed amount, determined by the amount needed to buy food, books, etc for the child rather than a gross percentage of income (say child support is calculated 20%, so if a man earns $1 million a year, it clearly doesn't cost $200,000 to raise a kid, compared to another dad who earns $50,000 a year, paying child support of $10,000)

Friend of the court is bullshit. When divorce was final,friend of the court hit me with 6 months of arrears even though I was still living in the house and supporting the ex and kids.

Child support was based on my yearly income which is kind of alright in most situations. I was getting 25+ overtime hours. Once the overtime was gone I was still paying a huge amount. So I spent the next 2 years with living off of 25 dollars after paying my mortgage. The company I work for found out about my struggles and gave me a different position that paid 2.50 more a hour.

Time for review and one kid had just turned 18,so now I'm paying for 2. I wouldve thought that child support would go down,but it went up. Turned out that the ex put down that one of the kids was in daycare. In truth,she put him in for one week. So that stuck. So I was paying her 1200 a month for 2 kids.

I've always paid the healthcare for my kids which was 100 a week for a shitty hsa high deductible plan. At the end of last year I enrolled in the better plan which is 200 a week with normal 20 dollar doctor visits. At the start of dec of last year the overtime was gone again and at the start of this year I start paying the 200 dollar healthcare. This time around I dont have enough take home to cover my mortgage. So I petitioned for a review and gave them my paystubbs from dec of last year to mid February of this year showing no overtime and what I'm bringing home. Cool,I get the review and again they base it off of what I made last year. There gonna be around a 25,000 + difference this year with no overtime. They dropped it around 250. Its a start.

Thing is that she makes 3 dollars more a hour than me plus bonus. Shes putting away in her 401k and I'm putting in the bare minimum so the company can match. Shes driving the new car and I'm driving my 500 dollar craigslist rust bucket. Shes gets to live in her new 200,000 dollar house and I cant even fix up my 55,000 dollar house. She gets to vacation wherever she wants and I cant even afford to take vacation time.

And she tells my kids she doesnt understand why I hate her.
