Hello Ms. Croddy, this is in response to what you said about my answer on question thirteen.You said "Your attempt to say that men 'have it so much worse than women' is not true on the fact that men get a harsher penalty for the same crime that a woman commits." Allow me to correct your misquote, I never once said that men "have it so much worse than women". That is a straw man argument, straw man= "an intentionally misrepresented proposition that is set up because it is easier to defeat than an opponents real argument".

If we go with what you said and say that the stats are not kept, that still does not mean that injustice doesn't happen.

Your argument that men don't face harsher punishment in the criminal system is through the method of showing exceptions to the case.Mary Kay Letourneau, after confessing to the second degree rape of a twelve year old, Vili Fualaau, who was also her sixth grade student. She reached a plea agreement calling for a mere six months in jail, with three months suspended, and no contact with Fualaau for life among other terms. After spending a short three months in jail, Letourneau was caught in a car with Fualaau.  A judge rightly revoked her plea agreement and re-instated the prison sentence for the maximum allowed by law of seven and a half years. After serving her time she married her own rape victim. I also recommend not calling rape an affair, there is quite a difference.

The incarceration issue can be seen as a form of institutionalized discrimination against men. Which is something that many people are quick to point out along racial lines, but not so much alon gender lines, even though gender is a larger factor here.
