A 36-year-old teacher in East Glacier Montana was sentenced to federal prison Wednesday for sexually abusing one of her students. A judge says the student detailed by phone how his life was affected and how he developed a lasting mistrust of women.

Even when its "consenual" its illegal and they should be punished.

you can have a situation where a teacher sleeps with a student the student doesnt regret it and actually enjoyed it both at the time and in later life, but the teacher was playing dice with the well being of a child and his future mental health etc.

like speeding at 120mph, you might get to your destination without incident or any "victim" but you put people in danger and exposed them to a risk/injury/trauma.

its for this reason the teacher should always be prosecuted. you dont get to gamble on the outcome of a child.
