The thing about sales is that there is unlimited opportunity. You aren't set to a specific salary and you basically earn what youre skills are worth. Find the right job with a decent hourly and great commission and youre set.

Yes depending on the market. 100k in commissions over the course of six months type shit and upwards. You can also be in a shit industry on 100% commission paying some asshole to train you and making less than minimum wage. Sales is hard, especially now, and shitty sales jobs (recruitment/car sales/telemarketing/door to door/insurance/mortgage loan/pyramid schemes) are a plenty. Sure you'll hear of some asshole who made bank but typically these jobs have an extremely high turnover rate or everyone is a raving lunatic/sociopath. I realize I am making some incredibly cynical generalizations but I want you to stop and think about it before you dive in head first. Glen Gary Glen Ross is a movie I highly suggest watching before hand, with a grain of salt of course since it's a film.

It's better to look at sales as a skill instead of a career. The ability to sell something will augment your professional gains, but basing your livelihood solely on your ability to sell is imprudent. Ideally, you should be the guy in charge of the sales guys.

your first sales job needs to be salaried, if not then its just a shitty job that doesnt even pay you minimal wage.

99% of people wont be that dude who got into a call centre, and shoot up straight to top top seller in 6months.
