What do you know about equality?

I may be pedantic, but I think the term is often misdefined. Equality only applies to rights, because idealy, justice should be blind. However, status and opportunities change dramatically due to experience, knowledge, skills, etc; meaning you can't expect "equality" of status and opportunities where people have unique attributes. This goes both ways, for instance, if I'm a male engineer, I can't expect the status and opportunities a female medical doctor will have, but we certainly should have the same rights.

the more "equal" things get, the more oppressive the system is.

Imagine a forest, with all trees totally equal. Equal in height, in width, and even in branches and leaves.

Now think about it, what the hell happened there. Are these plastic trees or the result of a demented human intervention, a mutation, a genetic aberration of some sort...

The nature is not equal. From the grains of sand do the trees and everything in between is not equal.

Also there is a lot of competition between various types of plants and animals, and even rocks and sediments. Everything is shifting, changing, adapting, growing.

And here we are, the pinnacle of nature, the human. And what do we think "hey, look, we like nature and want to preserve it, but maybe we should all become... I don't know... "equal" because nature is "oppressive" and all that.

Mark my words, yesterday Marxists will be tomorrows cloning enthusiasts. They will have the perfect utopia of identical clones. A society of like minded clones is their dream world, after all, what can be more "equal" than that?

Equal is an adjective. It means nothing until you attach it to a noun.
