In which Dr. Pragya Agarwal thinks that men are simply imagining that there are ANY unfounded sexual harassment claims:
I gathered my thoughts later on while I was driving back home, and considered the underlying assumptions that this person seems to be making, and the unconscious biases that he was carrying.
One, that women were being unreasonable when accusing someone of sexual harassment. Two, that they imagined things, and created problems where none existed. Three, that women might have no sense of what right or wrong behaviour is. And, above all, that some of the sexual harassment claims were unfounded.
- Women would never imagine things, or create problems where none exist or make unfounded sexual harassment claims. No, this is simply an 'underlying assumption', despite thousands of cases to the contrary.
-----------------------------
- Her only positive reason given for men becoming mentors for women, is that this will make them better mentors to women. This is only about women for her. The idea that men might have their own lives to worry about never crossed her mind.
By not mentoring women, it is not only the women that will suffer the consequences. Men will not have the advantage of diversity in their mentee pool, and will therefore not grow and develop as much as a mentor, learning the unique challenges of work/life balance, and difficulties in the workplace faced by women.
OMG imagine suffering that lack-of-growth-as-a-mentor! As against suffering losing your job, your career, possibly your marriage, your kids and your home. Why isn't there a stampede of men looking to mentor women? There's so much in it for them and there's no downside! I love the insinuation that men have no challenges of work/life balance, and zero difficulties in the workplace - such as sexual harassment claims about air conditioning or giving some paranoid feminist the 'wrong' look.
This is such a shitty article I suspect 'Dr. Agarwal' is either a bot or a blithering idiot.
