Bad luck for her that she didn't live in Virginia. The governor would have had her back.

I strongly disliked that common wealth system over there.

What do you mean?

The governor of Virginia recently did an interview promoting infanticide. There was a bill that was thankfully tabled (for the moment. They'll bring it back when people stop paying attention) that would remove any and all restrictions on abortion up until the second of birth. Like, the sponsor of the bill literally said on record that the bill would allow a woman to kill her baby when she was in active labor with it. That went viral and got a lot of heat and the governor did a radio interview (that was video taped, so you can see the vile words come out of his mouth) where he went a step further and said that in the event that a baby managed to survive such a last second abortion the doctor would keep it comfortable and even revive it *IF* the woman wished, and *THEN* they would have a discussion about what to do with it (i.e. - if she wanted him to go ahead and kill it). AFTER THE BABY WAS BORN. ALIVE.

The governor claims his words are being taken out of context (even though you can watch the video and see the entire context for yourself) and said he was thinking about babies with serious deformities when he said that. Because it's okay to kill the handicapped, apparently. Even though the bill itself imposes no such requirements for executing the infant.

Ya everyone is pretty aware how blown out of proportion this is from the right. Thanks for acknowledging this.

[–]Arlophone 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How has the right overblown the fact that Virginia's governor is totally fine with killing babies after they are born?

I've been told that women will be lining up at the the door of a new fancy and trendy, 1 day abortion before delivery date. Ya gtfo.

Under the Infanticide Act 1938, women can be found to have committed infanticide rather than murder under the certain circumstances.

The law describes the crime as: 'Where a woman by any wilful act or omission causes the death of her child being a child under the age of twelve months, but at the time of the act or omission the balance of her mind was disturbed by reason of her not having fully recovered from the effect of giving birth to the child or by reason of the effect of lactation consequent upon the birth of the child.'

They’re gonna get her on infanticide rather than murder? /r/Pussypass...fuck that shit.

From the title, it sounds like she went on to kill a second child, but they were just bringing a second set of charges for the earlier case.
