This is the first I've heard of the Jane Doe letter. I read the NY Times daily and more recently the Washington Post. Perhaps I missed it though it would not normally meet their standard for publication being a single anonymous letter that anybody could have written.

There is no reason to think the old lady in Kentucky who emailed has any connection with the letter posted from CA. She didn't "MADE UP" the claims, she transcribed them from the California letter published by news media, into an email.
