She didnt understand the enormity of the situation. Its like she doesnt know you cant shove a 2*4 in a vagina, I guess she doesnt know how a vagina can be injured or a child has no capacity for understanding. I guess she never had a vagina or a child.

In Irish court, he sentence could have gone up to 14 years in prison, 2 and a half years seems lenient enough without it being suspended.

I wouldn't make this about because she was a woman.. likely because she's Nigerian she's seen a lot of terrible shit. She also probably doesn't know much about the proliferation and disgusting economy that is the black market for child pornography..

Hence why we have these laws.... it is messed up and strange how she managed to be in possession of such material... I think this has a lot to do with coming from different countries with different political and social structures. Not implying it is acceptable in Nigeria.

We in WEIRD society have the obligation and privilege of being socially minded and socially responsible (understanding our role in the stemming of exploitative material -especially regarding children). Our society and infrastructure has taught us to be empowered enough to know that and to have facilities and resources at hand in order to do so.

I'm not sure about the facilities and resources or how social issues like this are actioned or addressed in Nigeria. Of course this is only one case so she could well be an outlier, in no way representative of her community. I do believe her using it as an example of the worst of possibilities to her friend who had small children unaccompanied by a male as an issue related to unstable social structures and religious compartmentalization.

Edit: of course I in no way consider my analysis as a way to minimise her actions, I simply to try and understand why it has occurred and how. I have no thoughts on how a punishment should be applied.
