I was reading a post on the main sub about "The Good Boys" and going through the comments. The post really stuck with me because I had always been someone that had trusted the entire narrative of get good grades, go to college, get a good job, and you get a wife when women realize your value and want to settle down. Then found the red pill and started realizing I was getting figuratively screwed with women. At that point, however, I didn't stop all of those "good boy" behaviors. The main one being my belief in the "system" or the fantasy of getting through college and then an advanced degree and reaping the benefits. Because of that, I stuck with my major and with my career plan to become a pharmacist.

Now, I'm going to be graduating from a school and heading off to more school and saddled with even more debt. The end pay off of that graduate school being one of those 9-5 jobs with little room for anything else and getting to the end of the rainbow of the narrative. The reward at the end finding out I'm just another cog in the wheel and will most likely get passed up for promotions or other awards like I have been recently for some bullshit reason or another.

I firmly believe that if I continue to wander aimlessly down this path I'm going to be repeatedly screwed by politics and not get a promotion or be stuck in that one job. How do I break out of this system and find other avenues of income? How can I maximize my potential for benefits from my main workplace? I realize these questions are broad and nebulous, but at this point I'm just upset with myself for allowing this to continue for so long without thinking of what my options were. Lastly, I want to say that I'm not a stickler for any rules or adhere to any strict moral code. I want to make the best for myself with what hand I have at the moment, but don't understand how to operate outside of this narrative of "do the work and you will get the rewards." You don't have to do the work to get the rewards, but I don't know how to actually do that.
