Jordan Peterson: The Impact of Women´s Liberation on Society

Considering that women are unhappier than ever I'm not sure "liberation" is the right word.

Women now work more than ever and if they have children are often torn between family and career. Since when is working more a feature of liberation?

GK Chesterton predicted this a hundred years ago. He said the ultimate effect of feminism would be that your average woman (to paraphrase) would simply exchange a loving and dutiful husband with an asshole boss. They also exchanged a rich and fulfilling home life with the prison cell of the office cubicle.

Even rich women are probably unhappier. The "new American dream" is to become a housewife, and housewives are the happiest female demographic. Yet women are constantly tempted to divorce their husbands due to the financial incentives. This creates dysfunctional children. So everyone loses.

To be politically incorrect, I would argue that feminism has been helpful for exactly one type of woman: extremely unattractive, extremely intelligent women. In other words a very small minority.

By the same token feminism has only been beneficial to a very small minority of men, the alpha males at the very apex of society who funded the movement.

Peterson takes a shot at "egalitarianism", but in reality that may be the only way of preventing hypergamy run amok. The most egalitarian societies in the world are hunter-gatherer bands, and they strictly prohibit domination of females by alpha males.

It's possible such a society could encompass a large population using decentralization and federation, as the Iroquois Confederacy demonstrated (and as anarchists advocate). However whether such a society is possible with the presence of advanced technologies, or could co-exist with violent hierarchical societies, is another question.
