How to define Alpha?

"Alpha – Socially dominant. Somebody who displays high value, or traits that are sexually attractive to women. Alpha can refer to a man who exhibits alpha behaviors (more alpha tendencies than beta), but usually used to describe individual behaviors themselves."

I think we all have a wide definition of alpha that we agree on but then we have narrower definition based on out beliefs and ideals.

For example there was an article on a homeless guy, who was living in the streets and only living for his body (lifting shit all day and exercising) most people would say he's not alpha because he has no status but to me putting your mission before status and to keep doing that despite what others think of you is alpha.

Alpha is for all mammal species the dominant: this one leads the entire pack, tribe, village, etc and has first choice of all mates and resources

Interesting that the definition is relational. Clearly alpha in the animal kingdom is the leader animal. But in human societies there is only one president, but millions of everyone else .

So is alpha just the leader? Someone who gets laid a lot?
