It's funny how racist they look when they say (by not saying) that black male academics have no power over them. White feminists keep showing that they believe themselves to be second in line to the power structure of the world, and you can really tell that they want to be #1.

The under-citing of scholars based on their institution's prestige (which includes a bias against countries) is known as the Mathew effect and has been known for decades. The term coined for the under-citation of women scholars is the Matilda effect. Now, yes these biases do exist, even still, but the answer isn't to introduce new biases! The work should be assessed on its own merits, not by the status of the authors. However these problems are amplified by two things: 1) the sheer volume of research published makes it impossible to sift through every paper related to a topic; 2) the insane number of low quality papers and low quality journals. The reason this is happening? Academics are pressured to publish in a way that favors quantity over quality.

You shouldn't even know or be interested in the gender of the scientist you're citing, that doesn't have any importance with regards to their research. Most people would find it absurd that you choose who to cite based on the ethnicity of researchers, why then gender?
