Some people think prejudice is bad only when it applies to them. But when they're prejudiced towards others, woo!! It's a FUCKING GREAT idea!

You might remember Piper Harron's previous blog post "Get out the way" for the call for white men to quit mathematics, and for academic departments to stop hiring white cis men altogether. Some people took this as hyperbole or satire... but she has just posted Get out the way, part 2 where she confirms that her "real [...] answer to what white men can do? It’s they can get out the way; they can quit." Further, she says that she also suggested a "more plausible" solution: stop hiring white cis men. So there you have it... It wasn't satire, she is really advocating for gender and race discrimination against white men.

.... did y'all actually read the article? Toward the end, Piper writes
"Why bother advising the impossible? To get people to think. I expected people to understand I offered no practical solutions, but to challenge themselves to reevaluate their current practices."
and
"Since it needs to be said, I will say it. Yes, I want all of us to consider whether we are entitled to what we have (probably not) — that includes myself and my husband. No, I don’t want us all to be jobless. We are all people with needs, but we all need to be vigilant against an oppressive dominant culture."

She acknowledges her own privilege, she acknowledges her husband's privilege, and she acknowledges that having all cis white men quit their jobs is "impossible" and "not practical". Her goal was "to get people to think" and to "reevaluate their current practices". Yes, Piper is an aggressive writer. But that doesn't mean we can't read her work critically.
