Seemed obvious to me too.

However, it's unfortunate they found their spokesperson, who can be so easily shaped to fit their mental molds of MRAs. As much as I appreciate what he's saying and his demonstrated intellectual prowness, he also carries some serious baggage which can torpedo a career...even if a lot of that baggage is mere perception.

It is the age of perception, where "truth" and "facts" can be manipulated by the charismatic to mean...whatever they want it to. Usually several things all at once, to multiple people.

That's not to say he's entirely sunk. A strong personality willing to meet this head on and spin it can turn this to good for his career. Given who he is and what I've heard him say, to say nothing of the resources we know he has available to him ( regarding perception and the manipulation thereof ), he may just make this work for him.

However. I'm not taking that bet.
