As a white man, allow me to play devil's advocate.

You wrote much of 'the truth'. Striving for the truth, being objective, etc.. Presumably this is why you have used empirical data, in an attempt to objectively verify your beliefs. Based on that data, it is true that the West has achieved many great things.

However, how can that be a basis for objectively judging its value compared to the rest of humanity? Why must white men be considered truly 'better' than everyone else? All societies have accomplished just as many wonders and just as many atrocities as the West. Why must they be better or worse, instead of merely different?

How convenient it is that the race you have identified as superior is your own; how coincidental that yours is the only people capable of doing great work, the only people capable of saving mankind during this "precipice" which it just happened to arrive at during your lifetime. It is so tempting to deride others for their differences, to become exclusionary, to blame all woes on outsiders — this is merely scapegoating; the real world is more complex than that. Imagine for a second that world as it would appear had you been born black or asian. It is merely chance that made you white, just as it is chance that made others Jews. Is your welfare worth more than theirs by mere chance? There is no objectively superior race, because there are no objectively superior people: "We hold these truths as self-evident: that all men are created equal".

The key to understanding our equality is understanding the true meaning of the word "objective": an objective judge has no bias, no preference as to whether something lives, dies, or neither. There is no notion of value in the context of an utterly objective judgement; and this is the rigor of science, to reason without appeals to subjective value.

Thus, calling one group of people objectively better than another is simply untenable, And as I have said, scapegoating falls equally short of valid. It has always been the first tool of demagogues and children — born from a fear of recognizing one's own shortcomings, and another's merits, and moreover the presence of both in both. An easy self-justification, a substanceless rallying of emotion.

As far as we know, we are alone in this universe. The only company we have is each other. Why sow division and discord, and waste our existence arguing? Why not come together, and realize our universal brotherhood as Human Beings? Whether or not you agree with a word of what I have said, my own experience has been that as soon as one starts seeing the unfamiliar not with fear and intolerance, but with fascination and appreciation, the world becomes a much nicer place.
