Question about child support

There shouldn't even be support. Custody should be split evenly between the parents. You shouldn't be able to take my right to parent my kids away, and still expect me to foot the whole bill. Child support is nothing but the redistribution of wealth to women.

Child Support and Spousal Support should not exist. Fathers should have 50% custody of their child assumed, because half is self evidently equal. And since he's raising that child half the time, no funds need be transferred.

Spousal Support shouldn't exist either. If a man has to keep supporting her like a wife, she should have a traditional wife's duties to him.

My two cents: child support has absolutely nothing to do with the cost of raising a child. Dad's income is all that matters. I've often pointed out that divorced celebrity dads, such as Tiger Woods, pay 20 times more in child support than I do. Does the milk his kids drink cost 20 times more than mine? Do their clothes cost 20 times more? If I work my ass off, and get a 25% raise, does it suddenly cost 25% more to raise my kids? According to Family Court logic, yes.

If I have business expenses, and want my boss to cover them, I need to show receipts. I've never seen any receipts for what it costs to raise my kids. If I get my kids for a month over the summer, Family Court logic dictates that I still pay my ex-wife child support for that month.

Naturally, some women will argue that kids need to live in a house, so child support should include rent and utilities. And kids need rides, so dad should, in the name of 'child support', make car payments, gas, insurance, and so on.

So, to answer your question: yes, absolutely, child support can be de facto 'free money' for mom.

This is a hard question to answer. First of all, how much does it cost to raise a child? Bill Gates cost, for instance, will be a touch higher than mine. So already we have variability in the raw figures. Then you have to look at the incomes of the parents, a calculation which is supposed to take both incomes into account and balance it out.

The fairytale of the system is that this calculation arrives at a number which would be spent on the child(ren), one way or another ( food, rent, entertainment, insurance, hobbies, ect... ). Now, in practice we know that's usually full of shit, but regardless it's not cheap to raise a child.
