I suspect that this is more about a Feminut and Misandrist using their employment and access to the net to manifest their Misandry under the guise of Institutional Support.
I keep being reminded of a Huff-Po Image of an all female editorial board grinning inanely and in such a self satisfied manner - and then I see a group of all female editors at Merriam Webster giggling as a gang of naughty mean girls embedding their giggling group misandry in dictionary definitions. How Stereotypical of me!

Both groups can make crass assumptions about the other. I don't think there are any rights being infringed upon here.

I understand your point. Primarily I wanted to just point out the irony of the statement. But the bigger problem is that this just perpetuates the stereotype that all men are crass. Have you seen the synonyms for crass? It's a shit show of words are primarily used to describe men. I'm just saying I would've liked for it to say something like John gets very crass when he's angry. You know, something that isn't a straight up statement telling me that I make crass assumptions about women.

It's a very safe assumption in either direction. I fail to see the problem in using this sentence as an example of the word being used. The word has negative connotation, it rubs its negativity into whatever sentence you put it into. So where's the problem in using this?
I swear in 30 years this movement will be as self aware and trivial as feminism is today. But whatever.
