Many of us on this sub believe in intact genitals for ALL children, boys and girls alike. For all the effort we take to heal and take care of ourselves, it's just as important to take a moment and contribute to a child's life, so he doesn't have to suffer what we have.

We make progress in life through thoughtful ACTION. Take a moment to look at the website of your favorite newspaper, magazine, blog, etc. Search their site and see what they have written on FGM and circumcision so far. (For example, in Google you can use: circumcision site:XYZ.com )

Pick a site you respect, but would like to help educate. Write just one letter! Tell them, politely, how you feel about this and how it has affected you. Some suggestions: Remind them that genital cutting is an outmoded idea from the past. Remind them that FGM has been banned in most western countries for 20+ years. Remind them that boys are just as affected as girls by the trauma of genital cutting, and sometimes brutally injured. Ask them to read the links, talk openly about the current information on this topic, and how it's time to refresh the thinking on this topic.

In case they don't reply to you within a couple weeks, write again, politely, to another department. And again, until they respond. This topic is WORTHY of serious discussion with current information and input from people who have been harmed by this practice.

Each one of us facing this issue has the responsibility to speak out, politely, with friends, family, and media on this topic. This helps not only our personal healing, but spreading of knowledge and healing of our communities. This is how we effect positive evolution and change.
