This movie was a bad idea feom the start. And it has nothing to do with the gender swap.

I'm the first nerd to say " hey a woman as the doctor in Dr who would be cool"

Problem with this movie isn't that it stars women, it's that a Ghostbusters sequel was never gonna work (it didn't with the original cast) so a paint by numbers 2016 reboot? Oh God take us now.

So what did they do? They gender swapped the cast as a shield against criticism for being knowingly bad (and it looks bad). They KNEW the gender swap would be controversial and that would force people to take sides on the movies quality before it was even released. Sure you lose half the people that care, but half the people that care about gender issues is way bigger than all the people who cared about ghost busters (I love Ghostbusters but there are a lot of unemployed gender studies degree holders out there).
