Apart from all the bullshit, this is what struck me:

76 officers spent total of 2,244 hours on investigation which cost £70,000

WUT? 76 officers for what? Curfew in the town for every male, no rape to occur? And that 2,244 hours! That's someone's three month non-stop work. And all this in the span of 5-6 month (1/12/2014 - 31/5/2015). So this means that if you calculate with 6 months, on average one officer was doing constant 12 hours shifts to find out who raped her.

You know, at least she had the "decency" not to blame two actual men. Maybe if the police came up with two unlucky blokes, she would have pointed fingers, but happily it does not matter. But the question arose for me: if a rape case, which even wasn't a case from a get go, cost the police 2,244 hours; then what do they spend on an average murder?
